Hello family and friends of Eventide Homes residents.

I thought that you might like an update on the current status of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Residential Aged Care Facilities.

The government has not yet lifted its ban on visitors coming into Eventide Homes to visit their loved ones and friends.  This is particularly hard on our residents and we are doing our best to care for, and entertain them, in these trying times.  I move around the facilities regularly and chat with residents, and they are all very keen for restrictions to be lifted so that family and friends can soon visit again.

I’m looking forward to that too – I’ve been at Eventide Homes for just three weeks, but everybody tells me how wonderful it is when visitors are on site, kids are running around, and the good vibes.  My office door is always (literally) open and I’ve got rid of the curtains that blocked the view in and out of my office – I welcome any of you to pop in and say hello next time we can open our facilities to visitors.  Many of the residents have taken the opportunity to come into my office for a chat, and I have enjoyed the banter and hearing their stories.

You might have seen in the media that Eventide Homes is moving towards having 100% of our staff having received at least their first jab of COVID-19 vaccine by 16 September.  We are progressing well towards that target and my personal and professional view is to support having fully-vaccinated workforces in Aged Care.  We must ensure this to reduce the risk to our residents.

I will touch base with you soon to provide an update, and will send out regular communications to the family and friends of residents.

If you would like to talk with me about anything, please call me on 5358 2027.
